ideas for a successful small business saturday

Erin Keck, Executive Director

  1. Are You “Up to Date?”

This one, like many of these, are important year round! Heading into the Holiday shopping season, check to ensure when customers are searching for your info, that what they find is accurate. Ensure your website has been updated, your social media pages have the correct contact info and have at least one recent post to let customers know you are open. Make sure your business hours are accurate. Check your Google My Business account to ensure all info is up to date.. you get the idea!

  2. Consider Extending Your Hours

No one likes to work more, but temporarily extending your hours could be crucial for giving your customers access to what you have to offer. Perhaps just during Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, or the couple weeks leading up to Christmas. Whatever you are able to do, will likely make a difference. Consider your target audience and when they would most likely be looking to stop in. Whatever you do- make sure YOU PROMOTE it and that the hours are updated.

  3. Consider Planning with your Neighboring Businesses

Work WITH your neighboring businesses! Whether it’s choosing to extend business hours together during the same times, offering deals or promotions, free hot chocolate or any other great ideas you may have, if you are able to promote it together, you’ll be able to bring in a larger customer base and provide additional incentives for them to come out and shop. Give it a “name” such as “Gift Shopping Weekend Night Out!” (you get the idea anyway) and have everyone participating promote it together. You may even reach a brand new group of customers who have never stopped in before!

  4. Utilize your Chamber!

Chamber Members: use your resources!!! Anything you are offer, whether is be extended hours, new product open houses, discounts/specials, giveaways or more, we can help promote it for you!! Send to AlamosaChamberMarketing@gmail.com and we’ll share it for you!
